Understanding the Byron Pride-Future Ready Referendum

The Byron School Board is asking voters to approve an Operating Levy of $700 per pupil—a new proposal based on months of community engagement to address our district's needs.

On November 4th, Byron Public Schools voters will decide on two ballot measures: an operating levy and a capital projects technology levy. Our district currently receives some of the lowest state funding in Minnesota while facing rising costs that outpace revenue increases.

Byron has already implemented budget cuts totaling over $3 million in the past two years and is operating with a low fund balance. The school board has placed these measures on the ballot to address the district's ongoing financial challenges.

We understand the importance of making informed decisions regarding the district's needs. We will hold informational meetings throughout the fall—visit this website for dates and times. Community members with questions can contact Superintendent Nate Walbruch at nate.walbruch@byron.k12.mn.us or (507) 775-2383.
